a year in DC???

First I can't even believe its August. July flew by with a trip to New York, Chicago, Sie's fishing trip in Wisconsin, my trip home for Kim's baby shower, and the Soheili's visit for the 4th! We've stayed BUSY this month, but it's been so much fun.

I'm going to post some pictures from the various trips tonight (esp. Kim's baby shower which was a big hit!)

Second, as Sie and I just renewed our lease for our house on Decatur- it struck me that its been a year since we moved here! About this time last year, we were preparing for Brad & Lori's wedding and 2 days later, our long drive to DC. On one hand it feels like the time has flown by and everything still feels very new, but on the other we've started to feel like DC is really home (especially when we come back from trips). Don't get fired up, mom- Texas will always be HOME home. ;)

Recently, we've started looking for homes in DC. We're still VERY early on the process- wish us luck, it may turn out to be a pipe dream! I can say so far that buying a home in a city like DC is truly a different ball game then it was in Texas. competition, quick sales, and most noticeably- so much less house for so much more $$! haha. or I guess that's how it feels so far ;)

so naturally my mind has already progressed about 20 steps (maybe 100?) past where we actually are and has moved on to thinking about decorating a row house. :)

The layouts are usually long and narrow, with kitchens in the far back of the house so it can be challenging to furnish. i've been trying to find decorating websites/etc. for inspiration (hey, its something to distract me at work at least!) :)

On a different topic, while I was in Houston for Kim's shower, my mom and I (because yes, it takes 2 women to take care of these boys!!) sat down, figured out a date that would work for both of them and finally booked a trip: my brothers are coming in NINE days!! I'm SO excited- my brothers have never been to this part of the country (corbin once to philly though) so I think it's all going to be so new and different for them. Cant wait to show them everything :) One of my friends little sister just so happens will be in town as well that weekend.. haha. Do I dare introduce her to Corbin & Grant? She wont stand a chance!

lots of love- more to come!
